After just two minutes, Mathew Gerke put the Canadians into the lead. The Poles then got into penalty trouble and were down two men and the Canadians made them pay doubly with power-play goals by Daniel Juca and Mitchell Shelton. Gerkes second of the game, four minutes before the end of the first period, had the Canadians comfortably in front at the first intermission.

At the beginning of the second period, Gerke completed his second hat-trick of the tournament, putting Canada West in front 5-0. The Poles then made a goaltending change but that could not stop, with Cole Moffat adding one more goal before the end of the period.

In the third period, Shelton scored twice to complete the second Canadian hat-trick of the game and Jack Oleksiuk and Jacob Bodnaruk rounded out the scoring.

Reactions

Coach of Poland: "It was a terribly difficult game for us. We felt fatigued too. We will put everything in the last game and fight for a win."

Coach of Canada West: "It was a good game. For us, it was a good warm up for the evening game against the Czech Republic, where we will play for everything."
