Czech U15s steamroll GB 12-0

28. 6. 2018 | David Sokol
In their first game, the Czech U15 national team played against the team from Great Britain, and the hosts absolutely decimated their opponents. They added goal after goal until the scoreboard stopped at an unbelievable result of 12-0 in favour of the young Czechs.

The very first game of Czech U15 team put in their way Great Britain. Although the game was expected to be tight, the Czechs steamrolled their opponents from the beginning. Just two minutes into the game, thanks to Lukas Novotny and Miroslav Halek, they had an early two-goal lead. It didn´t take long and after a good combination in front of the British goal it was Tomas Lhota, who extended the lead. The Czechs had a really great first five minutes, however, in the first period the hosts were penalized four times, including a 10-minute misconduct, but that didn´t stop them from controlling the first period.

It was just 11 seconds in the middle period and Czechs contributed again, as Lhota scored his second today. But the hosts were not done yet, just eight seconds later Radek Kubica shot right from the faceoff, and his projectile flew through all players in front of the British net. The Czechs kept on going with their offensive style of play, and that soon led to another goal to their side - a bomb from the blue line from the stick of captain Radim Dostal was unstoppable. But the humiliation of Great Britain was not done yet, and a minute and a half later it was Novotny with his second as well. The seventh goal resulted in a British goalie substitution, as Dominic Rae was brought off in favour of Jack Wakefield. But neither goalie could stop the Czech steamroller, and in the dying minutes of the second period, Ondrej Tichy added another goal.

In the last period, the Czechs didn´t have to rush anywhere, so they started to just control their enormous lead, but still were able to score. In the span of a minute, Matej Kabrt and Adam Stastny set the scoreboard to 10-0. Soon it was Lhota who was the first player to in the U16 tournament achieve a hat-trick. In the following two-man power play for the Czechs, Matej Taufer also contributed to the scoresheet, becoming the last player to score in this productive game.

Reactions

Coach of Czech republic:It was a really nervous performance by us, we won 12-0, however, the score is not the most important here. We made a lot of mistakes, and a lot of our goals just got into the net. We did not played what we were supposed to, and that is what we should work on to the next games. We have to calm down, and stop getting that many penalties.

Coach of Great Britain: We knew it would be a difficult game, and we knew the opposition would be tough. But our boys all played together, worked for each other, and tried to minimize the scoreline as much as possible. We could not ask for anything more.
