U20 Canadians dominate GB, advance to final

30. 6. 2018 | Johan Čáp
The U20 game between Canada and Great Britain was one of the most important for the overall standings in the women´s group. But Canadians, as pre-game favourites, struggled with shot accuracy, waiting nearly nine minutes before scoring their first goal. From that moment, the Canadians were superior and maintained the lead the rest of the way. In the second period, Canada continued to dominate and scored three times. In the end, they routed the British women 6-0.

Canada Coach: It was a good game and a great experience to play against Britain. They´ve have made good strides coming into to the ball hockey world. They have a bunch of athletes and skilled field hockey players, now they´re transitioning into ball hockey. Their girls are much stronger than us, and now the GB team has experience with international ball hockey and should be able to reach some wins in the future. We´ve made the final, and I expect that it´s going to be very even game. We have similar systems as the Czechs, so it will be a great battle.

Great Britain Coach: It was an unbelievable performance by our girls. They came together and worked harder than they did before. The girls had to play exceptionally well to get an 0-6 scoreline against Canada, one of the best team around the world. I appreciate this result, because the progress of our game is obvious.
