Final test before women´s final, Czechs win 1-0

30. 6. 2018 | David Sokol
A clash between two future finalists, the Czech Republic and Canada, concluded the group phase of the women´s tournament. The game was fast-paced, as expected, but the defence of both teams played a major role. The fans had to wait until the third period before seeing the game´s only goal by forward Barbora Patockova on a Czech power play, and opened the scoring sheet. That was all they would need as the team´s defence and goaltender Tepla took care of the rest.

Reactions

Coach of the Czech Republic: The game today was about who will be the home side tommorow. I think it was really even. Both us and Canada rotated all of the players. Tommorow´s game will be a lot different, and I believe we´re ready for it. Tommorow we´ll play the record of today´s game, and discuss the powerplay and shorthanded play with the girls. We´re going for the gold.

Coach of Canada: I think it was a great game between two of the top teams at the tournament. We had to play defensively a lot, and we need to improve some things so we can generate some offence. The Czechs have a very good team and, obviously, they are now the team to beat. It was a good game, I had a lot of fun with it.
